For many, its been a tough few months, with most travelling as little as possible, to limit the spread of Covid-19. This has meant being cooped up in relatively small spaces and perhaps a lack of fresh air and exercise. We care about our clients and our community and it’s for this reason, amongst others, that teclan decided to create a challenge to get us out walking or running. By walking, or running, you can improve your own physical and mental health. https://www.walkingforhealth.org.uk/get-walking/why-walk/healthy-minds
“At Mikeysline, our ultimate aim is suicide prevention. We were established in 2015 following the suicides of two close friends within days of each other, Mikey Williamson and Martin Shaw, both aged 23. Our textline service was set up to provide an anonymous, safe, confidential way to access peer support, a listening ear from someone who understands what that person may be feeling, having their own live experience of mental health issues. We also operate a drop in centre, The Hive, on Academy Street in Inverness, which is temporarily closed due to COVID. Lockdown has greatly affected our fundraising as so many large annual events have been cancelled but we are so very grateful to everyone for their fundraising initiatives which will enable us to keep the service operational”
We have challenged local businesses to get involved too and walk a million steps for Mikey’s Line and we are delighted that so many have decided to join us. This page shows the businesses that are taking part in the teclan challenge and will also track our progress across the month.
Follow teclan on social media to follow the challenge and see how much we can raise for Mikey’s Line.
